Lighting

Lighting is the fastest way to improve video quality. A single well-placed soft light beats an expensive camera in a dark room.

Buying advice

  • Start with one soft key light positioned slightly above and to one side of your face.
  • Check that the light is dimmable and has adjustable colour temperature.
  • Add a fill light and a backlight only when you are comfortable with the key.

Frequently asked questions

›How many lights do I need?

One soft key light is enough to start. Add fill and back lights later for depth.

›Do I need a softbox?

Soft light flatters faces. Panels with a diffuser or a softbox both work.
